Nursery/Childcare Info

ASBURY CHILDCARE POLICY (Effective July 1, 2008)

For easy referral, and to make certain our church family has all the correct information, we are including updated childcare policies in this publication. Please call Vicki (392-1160) or Mona (392-1127) if you have questions or concerns.

  1. Childcare reservations are not required. Children may be dropped off at their classroom as early as 15 minutes before all pre-approved events or programs begin.
  2. Childcare "core hours" for children 6 weeks through 6th grade:
    Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
    Monday & Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
    Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  3. Open Nursery for children 6 weeks through 3 years: Open nursery is available when a pastor is leading a worship service outside “core hours”. All children 4 years and older will be required to attend the worship service with their family. (Example: Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve 7:00 service only)
  4. Childcare Volunteers: Volunteers may not assist in a childcare classroom until an individual background check has been completed and approved.
  5. Childcare Staffing:Two childcare staff or volunteers must be on duty in each room when child care is open and children are present. No room is to be left with only one staff member or volunteer worker at a time. Married couples will always be counted as one worker in all classrooms. Children will not be left with only the couple. A third OSBI approved worker or volunteer must be present.
  6. Sick Children: Children will not be admitted to childcare with the following symptoms:
    • Fever: A temperature greater than 99 degrees within the past 24 hours.
    • Nasal Discharge: Excessive nasal drainage or discolored drainage indicating a contagious infection.
    • Rash: Any child with a rash, including severe diaper rash cannot be admitted unless a doctor’s written statement accompanies the parent.
    • Cough: Deep coughs or coughs sounding like a seal bark.
    • Head Lice: All lice must be entirely gone from the hair.
    • Diarrhea in the last 24 hours
    • Vomiting within the last 24 hours of drop off.

Ministries that choose not to use Asbury nursery or childcare services, but wish to provide their own babysitting, are not permitted to use the Asbury nursery and childcare secured areas. The ministry must make arrangements for babysitting at a location other than Asbury. The Asbury nursery and childcare secured areas will be open only when Asbury childcare staff and supervisors are present.
