PRAYER MINISTRY

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." – Philippians 4:6-7

Highly revered in our core beliefs, Asbury believes prayer is an essential part of our intimate relationship with God. Just as you frequently communicate with your friends, family and loved ones to build and maintain those relationships, the same is true when investing in your relationship with God. Prayer is a time to truly speak your heart, glorify God and listen for His wisdom and guidance. There is no prayer that is too big or too small. If you have a passion for prayer, want to grow in your prayer life or are curious about prayer in-general, check out ways to connect with Asbury’s Prayer Ministry below!

Acts 29 Prayer Ministry

The Acts 29 Prayer Ministry prays daily for different aspects of Asbury using a Prayer Emphasis Sheet that rotates every 40 days. Inspired by the 28-chapter book of Acts, Acts seems as though it is not finished because God intends each local church to continue in the same manner and ministry as the Acts Church to the present day world. We believe what happened in Acts can happen in our church, if we pray as one, united community. If you need an Acts 29 Emphasis Sheet, email Cheryl Steffen, Asbury Prayer Coordinator at prayercoordinator@asburytulsa.org

Prayer Teams

  • Intercessory – Pray for personal prayer requests received from Sunday worship services.
  • Email – Pray for urgent prayer requests as they come in during the week.

Prayer Rooms

In a busy world, sometimes it’s difficult to hear God’s voice. With intentional design, each room provides a quiet, peaceful haven for you to step away from the chaos and encounter God. Whether you’re leaving a prayer request, searching for prayer guides or needing a place to spiritually rest, there’s something for everyone in one of Asbury’s Prayer Rooms.

  • Main Prayer Room – South entrance near the Elevator.
  • Mason Chapel* – Southeast corner of Mason Chapel.
  • Prayer Walk – ½ Mile around Asbury. Utilizes sidewalks and seven signs.

* Access Code required.

Prayer Watches

  • VBS – Pray onsite or at home for 30 minutes while children attend VBS during the month of June. Your prayers are powerful, as we long for these children to have changed hearts and put their faith in Jesus Christ for the very first time. Sign ups begin in May.
  • Asbury Students Spring Break Missions – Starting in early March, choose a 30-minute time slot to pray onsite or at home while 350+ students and leaders serve nationally and internationally on SBM.
  • Easter Prayer Vigil – Just as Jesus invited His disciples to “Watch and Pray”, you too are invited to “Watch and Pray” during a special Easter Prayer Vigil held in the Mason Chapel from Good Friday to Easter Morning. Security will be onsite. Register online at asburytulsa.org/easterprayer.
  • Special Occasions (Elections, COVID-19 Pandemic, etc.)

Prayer Meetings and Services

  • Sunday “Take 15” Prayer Meeting - Come join praying friends for a “Take 15” prayer opportunity on Sunday mornings from 10:35-10:50 in the Main Prayer Room. This prayer time will be a short purposeful and powerful time of prayer for Asbury and the worship services.
  • Service of Remembrance – Losing a loved one is excruciating, "especially during the first Christmas season without them." This special service serves as an opportunity to hear a message of hope, receive healing prayer and light a candle in remembrance of your loved one.

We believe God hears and answers prayer. Your prayer concerns are important to us.
