Marilene Long

Outreach Coordinator

Office: 918.392.1164

Since March 2001, Marilene Long has been a staple in Asbury’s Outreach Ministry – locally and globally – as the Outreach Coordinator. Not only does she provide support to the entire ministry, she also coordinates all of the short-term mission teams.

It was her first mission trip to Rio Bravo, Mexico alongside eight other families where it finally “clicked.” Previously working in banks, special education and substitute teaching, she considers herself a teacher by training, yet blessed to do missions as a career.  Through God blessing the groundwork and Mary Ann Smith encouraging her, Marilene’s heart desire is that Asbury’s missions will always expand and continue.

Marilene grew up on the family farm in Fort Scott, Kansas alongside two brothers. She is “so very grateful to be raised in a loving Christian home. We didn’t have an abundance of physical positions or a fancy home, but I ALWAYS knew I was loved, respected, and that my life mattered.” She then met Scott and 44 years later, she now enjoys time with the entire family at Asbury – two daughters, Emily and Morgan, as well as five amazing grandchildren.

It’s no surprise to find Marilene traveling to New York or the beach, spending time with family, serving on mission teams, attending the same weekly small group Bible study since the 1980s and being an active Asbury member since 1983.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7
