What you have learned  and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.” – Philippians 4:9 ESV

Discipleship is the core of the Great Commission. Jesus commanded it...and we should follow it. But what is discipleship? The Greek word for disciple is mathetes. It means learner, pupil or someone who learns by following.

It’s true... a deeper knowledge of Scripture leads to deeper, personal relationship with Christ. While individual study is key to your spiritual development, studying with a community is a biblical principle that will produce results in your life as well. That’s why we offer many opportunities for Bible classes because we believe studying Scripture is primary.

Becoming a strong disciple means learning Scripture and applying it to your everyday life. We believe it is important for everyone in our church to participate. One way to do that is by joining spring or fall classes at Asbury. Led by strong, knowledgeable Christian lay leaders and pastors, each in-person or online class caters to navigating your current life experiences or expanding your understanding of Scripture.
