A PARALYTIC: Show Me Your Friends

    Apr 27, 2021 | by Tom Harrison

My mom, Kathryn, was terrific. I’m delighted so many of you knew her, even though her last few years were compromised due to her memory loss. She loved the Lord and His church. We eagerly await being reunited. As we say in our Communion service, “and all the company of heaven.” We are grateful we are not earthbound. Thank you for so many ways you have expressed kindness.

We continue our sermon series on “Loving Jesus” by looking at the paralytic of Luke 5:17-26. The title of the sermon truly expresses where I’m going with this message: “Show me your friends, I’ll show you your future.” The paralytic had some great friends who helped him come to Jesus. We’ll develop this concept on Sunday with LOTS of application.

Nowhere is this saying more accurate than with young people. This Sunday, we will recognize our high school graduates in our worship services. We are also recruiting people who want to positively influence the next generation's faith through AsburyKids and Asbury Students. Finally, at 6 pm on Sunday, we are having “United in Prayer” in our Sanctuary. Following the WCA Simulcast on Saturday, we’ll be praying for Asbury, the UMC and the global church. The simulcast will inform and inspire. This time of prayer gives us all something we can do.

As an aside, someone told me this week in a phone call, that they would return to worship when our golf carts are picking up and dropping off again. They have been doing this since last July. As more of our drivers return, more carts will be up and running, too. Just wanted you to know.

Here are our texts this week:
    Monday: Luke 5:17-26
    Tuesday: Luke 7:1-10
    Wednesday: Luke 23:6-12
    Thursday: John 15:12-17
    Friday: Acts 4:23-31
    Saturday: 3 John 13-15
    Sunday: Luke 5:17-26
