Grow Up: All Scripture is God-Inspired

    Jun 1, 2021 | by Tom Harrison

Following the tradition of the Oklahoma Annual Conference we remembered Asbury members who have gone to be with the Lord over the past year. We also remembered the Centennial Anniversary of those who lost their lives in the Tulsa Race Massacre. I am grateful that our stories do not end here. The best hope we have for healing, reconciliation, abundant life now, and eternal life—is in Jesus Christ.

Our new sermon series, “Grow Up,” begins on Sunday. We will dig into 2 Timothy 3:10-17 during June. This week’s focus is: All Scripture is inspired by God. Paul (who wrote 2 Timothy) was referring to the Old Testament writings. The New Testament was being written. The Bible, especially the New Testament, is the ultimate authority for followers of Jesus.

Sunday night I will teach a “one night only” class called, “Bible Basics.” We taught this class about five years ago. Many found it to be helpful, so we wanted to offer it again. The focus is for those who feel they know little to nothing about the Bible (or need a refresher). This class offers skills for anyone with a desire to start reading and studying Scripture for themselves. It is open to all ages (families can learn together too). This class is 6-7:30pm in the CLC. The new Gratitude and Sermon Journals are available now. Be sure to pick one up (suggested donation of $5.00). You can also use the Asbury app.

    Here are this week’s readings:
    Monday: 2 Timothy 3:10-17
    Tuesday: Psalm 119:1-8
    Wednesday: Psalm 119: 9-16
    Thursday: Matthew 26:47-56
    Friday: Mark 12:18-27
    Saturday: Romans 15:1-7

    See you Sunday,

    Tom Harrison
    Senior Pastor
