JAIRUS’ DAUGHTER: Self-Differentiation

    May 25, 2021 | by Tom Harrison

We wrap up our “Loving Jesus” series this week with another obscure story from Luke’s Gospel. Jesus restored Jairus’ daughter to life. Jesus said to the distraught father, “Do not fear; only believe, and she will be well.” While this miracle was unique, there is application for us today. We can be made well too, and as the church, we can help bring healing to others. “Loving Jesus” is making all things new.

This Sunday, following the tradition of the Oklahoma Annual Conference, we remember and name those who were members of Asbury who have gone to be with the Lord over the past year. We also remember those from our community who perished so tragically in the Tulsa Race Massacre 100 years ago.

New Gratitude and Sermon Journals are available now. Our summer series is a look at how we grow “Up” in Scripture, “Together” in unity, and “Out” in mission. The “Up” series provides a special opportunity. I will teach a Bible Basics class: one night only, on June 6 at 6 pm in the CLC. We offered this some years ago and found it was helpful for many. The focus is for those who feel they know very little (or nothing) about the Bible. We will share a basic understanding of where the Bible came from, and how it is structured. We want to help you start reading and studying Scripture for yourself. This class is open to all ages.

    Here are this week’s readings:
    Monday: Luke 8:40-42a; 49-56
    Tuesday: Exodus 32:1-6
    Wednesday: Nehemiah 6:1-9
    Thursday: Luke 11:45-54
    Friday: John 6:60-71
    Saturday: John 18:1-11

    See you Sunday,

    Tom Harrison
    Senior Pastor
