One for the Books

    by Andrew Forrest

    Friends,

How great was our first ever Christmas Commitment Sunday at Asbury?!

I LOVED seeing all of those folks kneeling at the rail on Sunday and praying,

“Thank you, Lord, for your provision in the year past; please bless and prosper the work of our hands in the year to come.”

Thanks for playing along and trying to hum while holding your nose.

I know it was silly, but I was trying to make a really important point:

    • It’s not possible to be grateful and unhappy at the same time.
    • It’s not possible to be ungrateful and happy at the same time.

     This is good news because:

All of us want to be happy, and being grateful for God’s blessings is entirely in our control!

Speaking of gratitude, I was grateful to walk around the building and see so many smiling, happy faces after each service.

    Thank you for sticking around!

And how great were those mariachis?!

You can’t be unhappy when there are mariachis present. That’s my story, and I’m sticking with it.

This Sunday we’re beginning a new sermon series called:

    Can’t wait!

    Andrew

P.S. We actually had the single largest offering in the history of Asbury Church last Sunday—even more than a huge Christmas Eve or Easter. How fun is that?! What a powerful statement on behalf of our church about our trust in the Lord and our gratitude for all his blessings.
