Outreach Means "Go!"

I went with three friends to see the Phillies play the Nationals last week. Going to Philadelphia was part of the reason. We wanted a quick overview of Philly and learned a tremendous amount in one hour by riding the “Hop On—Hop Off” bus. We needed a guide who knew the city. We need guides in spiritual direction, too. In particular: learning the Bible.

Dr. Vaughn Story has been an excellent guide for 1,026 people at Asbury in his “Disciple Bible Study” class. He drives “Route 66” in the Scriptures (there are 66 books in the Bible) complete with excellent commentary. Vaughn is an outstanding teacher. While 33 weeks is a big commitment, a major investment can bring major rewards. This study will give you so much confidence in your faith and understanding of Scripture. You can participate either in person (Tuesday nights) or on Zoom (Thursday nights). Week one begins on August 10, but registration closes on August 5. Here is more information: asburytulsa.org/dbs

Our pastor-led class, “The Truth About Sex” got off to a good start Sunday evening with over 260 in attendance. We spent June focused on 2 Timothy 3:10-17 and growing UP. During July we focused on Ephesians 4:1-16 and growing TOGETHER. August continues our growing season with growing OUT. God has a heart for the entire world. We want to join alongside God’s mission desire for all people to know, love and walk with Him. God told Abram to GO! Jesus tells us to GO! We’ll be looking at “going” this week in our daily readings and in Sunday’s sermon.

    Monday: Matthew 28:16-20
    Tuesday: Genesis 12:1-3
    Wednesday: Psalm 72:17-19
    Thursday: Luke 19:1-10
    Friday: Acts 13:44-52
    Saturday: Galatians 3:7-9

    See you Sunday,

    Tom Harrison
    Senior Pastor
