Middle and High School Retreats

Our themes are always scripturally based and provide a chance for students to reflect on their own lives. One year the theme was “Released” where we talked about Paul and Silas being thrown into jail after freeing a slave girl from a spirit. Not only were they miraculously released while worshipping God, but they also stopped their guard from killing himself and ultimately led him to believe in Christ. After learning this story, we discussed what God can release us from and His desire for us as disciples. Ultimately, we learned how to use the testament of God’s power in our lives to Help Others Follow Jesus, too!

Another example of a theme was “Arise.” We looked at the story of Lazarus found in John 11. This was one of Jesus's greatest miracles and was a direct connecting point to the plot that led to his crucifixion. We compared ourselves to the people in the story of Lazarus that were surrounding Jesus at the time of the miracle.
